Natural gas extended to more than 7mn housing units during last 8 years: Petroleum Ministry

Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla said that some seven million housing units have been connected to the natural gas grid over the last eight years.

In statements on Wednesday 4/5/2022, Molla said that the move came within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives and a state plan to expand the use of natural gas at homes.

The minister, meanwhile, pointed out to the political leadership’s efforts to implement a plan envisaging supplying natural gas to housing units, adding that about 60 million citizens use natural gas at their homes across Egypt.

The minister noted that natural gas is extended to 1.2 housing units each year.

Molla further noted that the number of gas-powered vehicles in Egypt reached more than 450,000 cars.

The number of natural gas stations have increased to more than 850, he said.

The move came in implementation of a presidential initiative in this respect, Molla added.
