Brussels: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that the alliance is committed to providing Ukraine with 40 billion Euro in security aid this year, as promised by NATO members at the Washington Summit. Speaking at a press conference today, ahead of the final meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Rutte welcomed recent announcements of additional military assistance from the United States, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, and Norway. According to Qatar News Agency, Rutte also revealed that NATO is establishing a new command center in Lisbon to coordinate security support and training for Ukraine, making the alliance's aid more robust and sustainable. However, Rutte stressed that more needs to be done, emphasizing that stronger military backing for Ukraine will strengthen its position at the negotiation table. Rutte confirmed that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will join tonight's working dinner, underscoring the need for close NATO-EU cooperation in supporting Ukraine. He condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin for escalating his rhetoric and military actions, trying to expand his control by force, stating that the Russian President is wrong, and reaffirming NATO's commitment to helping Ukraine defend itself, and that they must continue their unwavering support.
