Doha:The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) is organizing a nationwide campaign from October 1 to 10, 2026, to honor older persons. This initiative, led by the Community Care Department, will feature a variety of community and awareness events.

According to Qatar News Agency, the events are scheduled to coincide with the International Day of Older Persons and the Arab Day of Older Persons. The MSDF is collaborating with numerous entities, institutions, and centers across the country to facilitate these events.

The campaign aims to support older persons by enhancing their quality of life, promoting their active participation in society, and raising awareness of their rights and needs. It will include a wide range of social, cultural, educational, and awareness activities designed for older persons, their families, and the broader community.

Activities are designed to strengthen intergenerational ties and provide opportunities for older individuals to engage in community life. The campaign will also feature an interactive mural on Gewan Island and in Msheireb, inviting community members to express appreciation for older persons.

Additionally, an educational visit to the Qatar Archives is planned for members of the Quodorat Development Center, allowing participants to explore Qatar's history and exchange knowledge and experiences. This visit aims to foster a connection to national identity and ensure the continuation of community heritage.

By distributing activities across various locations and collaborating with multiple entities, the MSDF seeks to maximize participation and convey the campaign's messages to diverse segments of society. This effort emphasizes the importance of shared social responsibility and the integration of family and institutional support for older persons.

The campaign highlights the Ministry's strategy of utilizing community, awareness, and media programs to elevate the status of older persons and cultivate a culture of appreciation for them within society. The observance of these international days serves as a reminder to renew gratitude for older persons and acknowledge their contributions to the community.
