MSDF Hosts “My Special Cake” Event to Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day


Doha: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), represented by its Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Shafallah Center, organized an event titled “My Special Cake” to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day, observed annually on March 21. The event aimed to enhance social interaction among individuals with Down Syndrome, develop motor skills, stimulate their senses, and boost their confidence while fostering their creative and social abilities. It featured activities that combined learning with fun.



According to Qatar News Agency, MSDF’s Director of the Social Welfare Department Reem Al Ajmi stated that the celebration seeks to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and highlight the achievements of these productive members of society while offering them support.



She added that the ministry, through the Social Welfare Department, implements specialized training programs for those working with this group, in cooperation with related governmental and non-governmental organizations. These efforts are part of a broader mission to support and empower individuals with Down Syndrome.



Al Ajmi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to achieving social development through strategies and plans aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030. These initiatives aim to enhance the integration of individuals with disabilities into society and empower them to become active and productive citizens.
