Hanoi:The Ministry of Social Development and Family, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, conducted a workshop via videoconference to tackle the effects of violence against children. The event included participation from representatives of Arab government entities responsible for child protection, as well as regional and international experts and organizations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop began with remarks from Lubna Azzam of the Social Affairs Sector's Family and Childhood Department at the League of Arab States. This was followed by a speech from Fatima Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Family Development Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
The workshop was a result of a recommendation from the 21st session of the Committee for Follow-up on Ending Violence Against Children, chaired by Qatar on September 18, 2025. The recommendation emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation among member states and organizations and called for workshops to raise awareness on preventing and mitigating violence against children.
Participants discussed strategies to bolster joint Arab efforts against violence on children, sharing best practices and experiences in prevention, protection, and response. They also focused on international frameworks for child protection and addressed the issue of digital violence against children, discussing prevention, protection, and response mechanisms.
Additionally, the workshop reviewed methods for monitoring and reporting, professional intervention, and case management to develop a comprehensive child protection system. It explored ways to implement commitments from the Global Conference in Bogota to further national and regional efforts in creating a safe environment for children.
The workshop concluded with practical recommendations to enhance Arab cooperation, improve child protection mechanisms, and support the exchange of expertise. These efforts aim to strengthen Arab initiatives to protect children's rights and shield them from all forms of violence.
