Ministry of Sports and Youth Concludes Summer Activities With More Than 36,000 Participants

Doha: The Ministry of Sports and Youth, represented by the Department of Youth Centers and Organizations, has concluded its 2026 Summer Activities program, engaging 36,438 participants, including 24,040 males and 12,398 females. The program also included 427 people with disabilities, underscoring the inclusivity and diversity of the initiative.

According to Qatar News Agency, the summer program involved 30 youth centers and organizations, offering 583 specialized activities and programs. These activities spanned educational, training, cultural, sports, technology, environmental, and volunteer sectors, providing young people with comprehensive experiences that aligned with their interests and aspirations while enhancing their abilities and skills.

Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri, Director of the Department of Youth Centers and Organizations, highlighted the ministry's efforts to strengthen youth centers' roles in empowering young people and expanding community participation. The summer program translated the ministry's strategic approach to youth empowerment and promoting active participation in Qatar's comprehensive development.

The ministry aimed to offer programs aligned with young people's interests, focusing on skills development, national identity promotion, community value reinforcement, and support for creativity, innovation, and volunteer work. The program results reflected the development of the youth-work system and the expanding reach of youth centers and organizations.

Fatima Al Marwani, Head of the Programs Section at the Youth Organizations and Centers Department, emphasized continuous monitoring of programs to ensure quality and participant satisfaction. The section strove to meet high standards in program delivery, organization, content, and training environment safety, incorporating participant feedback for improvement.

The program also saw significant participation from national and community-based personnel, with 3,093 trainers and supervisors, 1,979 volunteers, and 386 partnerships with government entities and institutions. These figures highlight the scale of effort in implementing the summer program and reaching target groups.

Programs focused on Qatar's National Youth Policy pillars, offering diverse experiences linked to personal, community, and national development needs. The youth, education, research, and innovation pillar ranked highest in activity numbers, while the youth health pillar drew the largest participant numbers.

The summer program featured a wide array of activities, including awareness, training, cultural, sports, technology, environmental, and volunteer initiatives. These were aimed at building balanced, socially conscious young people ready to innovate and serve their communities.

Broad institutional cooperation facilitated the summer program, involving entities like the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipality, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, and others. These partnerships emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to provide impactful youth programs, combining education and enjoyment to build skills and reinforce positive behaviors.
