Minister Tours Mukaynis Meteorology Center, Inspects 2022 World Cup Preparations

H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, toured the Mukaynis Meteorology Center. He was received by Mr. Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri, in charge of managing QCAA, and a number of officials from the Meteorological Department of the Authority.

During the tour, H.E. inspected the workflow at the Mukaynis Center, which includes a weather radar – the first of its kind in Qatar – and which significantly contributes to improving weather forecasts by monitoring numerous additional weather elements.

The tour also included reviewing the preparations for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, in which H.E. the Minister of Transport listened to a detailed explanation from the officials of the Meteorology Department at QCAA regarding all the measures taken at Mukaynis Center, and in all other monitoring stations to accommodate the requirements of this global tournament.

It is worth noting that the meteorological field has witnessed a remarkable development during the last period. The number of monitoring stations has reached 46, including 8 stations in the 2022 World Cup stadiums. These stations will provide all atmospheric conditions and weather forecasts during the World Cup period. This is in addition to the new services that have been provided in the ‘Q Weather’ application to serve the fans and visitors of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
