Doha: HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri recently conducted a series of high-level bilateral meetings with fellow ministers participating in the 6th session of the Islamic Conference of Labour Ministers (ICLM), which took place in Doha on October 15-16. The event was held under the theme “Local Experiences, Global Achievements: Success Stories Across the Islamic World.”
According to Qatar News Agency, the conference was attended by representatives from over 50 Islamic countries, as well as international and regional organizations, experts, academics, and civil society stakeholders. The gatherings facilitated discussions among leaders on various pressing issues within the labour sector.
During these meetings, Dr. Al Marri engaged with several ministers, including HE Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Yassierli Siahswar Ahmad, HE Minister of Social Affairs and Labour of the Syrian Arab Republic Hind Kabawat, HE Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Aliyev, HE Minister of Labour of the Lebanese Republic Mohammad Haydar, and HE Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Turkiye Vedat Isikhan.
The discussions primarily focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, exploring new partnership opportunities, and exchanging insights related to the conference agenda. The ministers collectively emphasized the importance of the 6th ICLM in supporting the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s strategies. These strategies aim to develop labour markets, promote employment, enhance social protection, advance skills development and capacity-building, and accelerate digital transformation across member states.
