Istanbul: HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari actively participated in the Group of Twenty (G20) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting. This meeting was held alongside the Annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, occurring from April 13-18 in Washington, D.C., USA. According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting featured a series of discussions focused on the effects of geopolitical conflicts on the global economy. Key issues addressed included slowed economic growth, trade disruptions, rising inflation, and a decline in investments, particularly within emerging economies. The sessions emphasized the necessity of reinforcing international cooperation and economic partnerships to stabilize markets, ensure energy security, and alleviate economic pressures. In his address, HE the Minister of Finance highlighted how conflicts disrupt economic growth by affecting trade and increasing costs related to energy and transportation. This results in endur ing inflationary pressures and diminished investment, especially in emerging markets. He underscored the need for international cooperation to bolster economic stability and resilience. His Excellency reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to supporting global energy security and collaborating with partners to stabilize markets. Additionally, he emphasized fostering economic partnerships that promote integration and tackle geopolitical challenges, rather than exacerbating divisions.
