Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal to QNA: HH the Amir’s Visit Promotes Cooperation to Achieve Common Interests


Kathmandu: HE Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal Hit Bahadur Tamang underlined that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Nepal would promote the joint cooperation within the framework of the common interests of both countries.

“HH the Amir’s visit will play an important role in strengthening economic cooperation between our two countries at a wide array of fields including investment, tourism, culture and trade,” HE the Minister said in a statement to Qatar News Agency .

“We have already a solid foundation of cordial relationship on the backdrop of a huge number of Nepali youths working in Qatar and other GCC countries from which a sizable amount of hard currency remittance contributes to our countrys economy. Reciprocally, our workforce has been also contributing to the fast growing economies of the Gulf countries,” His Excellency added.

In this context, HE the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal praised the level of cooperation between his country and
Qatar in the labor field, which provided good job opportunities for Nepali youths.

His Excellency pointed to Nepal’s cultural and tourism potentials that make it a destination for Gulf tourism, saying that Nepal is a culturally rich country, and is one of the oriental civilization centers at the lap of the Himalaya, making it one of the prominent destinations on the global tourism destination map. He added that the country has much to offer to the world and friendly countries like Qatar at the cultural and tourism level.

HE the Minister noted that Qatar has a unique heritage and authentic culture that is totally different from Nepal, which makes the cultural cooperation between the two countries interesting. In this context, he noted that the big community of Nepali people in the Gulf region is an important advantage for the cultural exchange between two rich and unique cultures, leading to a harmonious relationship at the peoples level.

d forward to a significant tourism cooperation with the State of Qatar in light of Nepal’s distinguished potential, saying: “I am enthusiastic about tourism cooperation between our two countries. Nepal is a popular destination on the global tourism map and there is a huge potential to attract tourists from Qatar and the GCC to our world famous national parks, Himalayan towns and UNESCO heritage sites. Even mountaineering expeditions on the Himalayan mountains including the highest Mt. Everest is getting popular among sporty young Arabians in the recent years.” He added that there are mountaineering expedition teams from Qatar, the GCC countries and other Arab countries who visited Nepal in recent years to climb the +8000 m high Himalayan mountains including Mt. Everest – the highest in the world, .

HE the Minister pointed out that Nepal offers attractive tourism facilities and world-class services, and it continues efforts to develop more luxurious facilities in the capital, Kathmandu, and various other tour
ist destinations.

His Excellency praised the role of Qatar Airways in connecting Kathmandu to the world, by operating flights to and from the capital; saying that, “most times, Qatar Airways is ranked number one or two among airlines that brings most number of passengers to Nepal, and the data and facts reveal Qatar Airway’s great contribution to the development of tourism, culture and trade of Nepal.” In concluding his statement to QNA, HE Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal Hit Bahadur Tamang noted his country’s need to operate more flights to other international airports in Nepal, such as Pokhara, Lumbini, and Bhairawa; pledging that his ministry will encourage and offer facilities to airlines in order to increase flights to these new airports.
