Minister of Communications Engages in Strategic Meetings at Global AI Governance Dialogue

Geneva: HE Qatar's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with international counterparts on the sidelines of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance currently taking place in Geneva.

According to Qatar News Agency, the minister held discussions with HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al Swaha, HE Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Karsten Wildberger, and HE Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Lebanon Dr. Kamal Shehadeh. The focus was on enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, exchanging expertise in digital technologies, innovation, and government service modernization.

HE Al Mannai also conducted meetings with HE Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Liisa-Ly Pakosta, HE Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation of the Republic of Ireland Niamh Smyth, and HE Minister for Digital Development and Information of the Republic of Singapore Josephine Teo. These sessions reviewed best practices in digital government, the development of e-government services, and explored cooperation opportunities in the digital economy and artificial intelligence, as well as strengthening partnerships in digital infrastructure and innovation.

Further, HE Al Mannai met with HE Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Doreen Bogdan-Martin to discuss international efforts in digital technology governance. He also conferred with HE UN Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies Amandeep Singh Gill on the latest developments in AI governance and emerging technologies.

The meetings provided a platform to enhance cooperation in digital transformation, AI governance, and digital infrastructure, promoting expertise exchange and expanding bilateral partnerships. HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva Dr. Hend Abdulrahman Al Muftah was also in attendance.
