MCIT and Qatar Youth Hostels Wrap Up AI-Focused Tourism Camp

Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in cooperation with Qatar Youth Hostels, concluded the activities of the Enhanced Tourism in Artificial Intelligence Camps, engaging 14 young men and women in a comprehensive learning experience.

According to Qatar News Agency, the camp was part of the Knowledge program by Qatar Youth Hostels, with MCIT's Studio 5 initiative offering hands-on training. The training sessions, spread over three days and totaling six hours, aimed to integrate AI and programming technologies with user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design principles. The objective was to create digital solutions that enhance trip planning, improve the tourist experience, and facilitate access to cultural experiences via smart mobile applications.

Participants successfully developed prototypes for smart applications designed to address cultural and linguistic barriers, facilitate access, assist tourists in emergencies, and help them discover lesser-known tourist destinations. One notable development was a prototype for a smart tourist conversation assistant named Travel AI Chat. This tool is designed to provide visitors to Qatar with instant responses to inquiries and guide them to the appropriate authorities for tourism and public services based on their needs.
