Magnitude 5.7 Earthquake Hits Mindanao in Southern Philippines

Hanoi:Mindanao An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale has struck Mindanao, in the southern region of the Philippines.

According to Qatar News Agency, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage so far. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) indicated that no significant damage is anticipated, though aftershocks might still occur.

The Philippines is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for heightened volcanic and seismic activity due to the intersection of tectonic plates.
