Vanuatu: An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck on Sunday off the coast of Vanuatu Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

According to Qatar News Agency, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicenter of the quake occurred at a depth of 135.1 kilometers, 43 kilometers southeast of Port Orly. The region is no stranger to seismic activity, as it is part of the "Ring of Fire," an area in the Pacific Ocean known for its frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions due to the movement of tectonic plates.

In December, a stronger earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hit Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu, resulting in 14 fatalities and causing significant damage to commercial buildings, embassies, and a hospital. Vanuatu's position along the "Ring of Fire" makes it particularly vulnerable to such natural occurrences, highlighting the ongoing risk to the islands' infrastructure and population.
