Baghdad Karim Benzema, Real Madrid striker and the French national team, refused President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to travel to Doha to attend the final match between Argentina and France in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
ESPN said that Benzema refused Macron’s invitation without giving any reasons to watch the final match from Lusail Stadium, although Macron has been in Qatar since the semi-final match after attending his country’s 2-0 victory over Morocco.
The Spanish newspaper “Marca” said that Benzema is still in Madrid, where he is working hard with the rest of his colleagues, and from the capital he will watch his team in the final match against Argentina.
The Golden Ball winner for the best player of the current year will support his country, as he always did when he was away from the team, after rejecting President Macron’s initiative to rent a plane that includes French players excluded from the World Cup squad for injury and the 1984 European Champions against Spain, as Benzema refused to travel to Qatar even before initiative of the President.
