Beirut: President Gen. Joseph Aoun of Lebanon met with Finland's Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen during the latter's visit to the country. The discussions centered on regional issues and the role of the Lebanese military.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Aoun reiterated Lebanon's military commitment, countering claims from Israel that accuse the Lebanese army of negligence. He urged the European Union to contribute to Lebanon's reconstruction efforts and welcomed any country willing to maintain a military presence in the south once the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mandate expires.

Hakkanen expressed Finland's support for Lebanon, noting a desire to enhance bilateral relations. He affirmed Finland's positive outlook on Lebanon's ability to achieve its goals in the period following the UNIFIL mandate's conclusion.
