Jordanian Foreign Minister Meets with Belgian, Cypriot Counterparts to Discuss Ending Israeli War on Gaza

Amman – Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi convened separate meetings with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombo and Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib on Sunday. The primary focus of the talks was on ending the Israeli war on Gaza and providing urgent humanitarian aid to the region.

According to a new release by Jordan News Agency, Safadi stressed the urgency of halting the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which he described as producing a humanitarian catastrophe in violation of international law. He underscored the need for the international community to swiftly deliver aid to the beleaguered Gaza Strip. Safadi also raised concerns about the risk of the conflict expanding beyond Gaza and destabilizing the larger region.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of a UN General Assembly resolution, presented by Jordan in its role as Chairman of the Arab Group, which calls for an immediate end to hostilities, the protection of civilians, and adherence to legal and humanitarian obligations.

Safadi also articulated that a lasting peace could only be achieved through a two-state solution, based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. He noted that such a peace would be the only way to guarantee security for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Furthermore, Safadi condemned the loss of civilian life and stressed the necessity for all parties to adhere to common human values, respecting civilian lives and refraining from targeting individuals based on their nationality or identity.
