AMMAN: Mubaidin lauded the media's critical role in chronicling the Israeli onslaught on Gaza, saying: "Without the media, we would not have known about these crimes, which claimed the lives of 170 Palestinian journalists and entire families as martyrs," calling on the international community to take a decisive and uncompromising stand to stop attacks on journalists and limit their targeting. Mubaidin also commended the Jordanian role and paid tribute to the late journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, saying: "Jordan continues to honor the entire journalist ecosystem for presenting a true picture of the magnitude of the crimes committed in Gaza." Commissioner General of the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR), Jamal Shamayleh, said that the tragedy unfolding in Gaza is among the worst in history and that His Majesty King Abdullah has spoken about it, citing the persistence of massacres and killings of women and children as "heinous acts that must not be overlooked." Shamayleh underscored the significance of med ia outlets in exposing the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, noting that everyone may now be a truth-teller thanks to digital technology. He stated that the NCHR was established by royal decree in 2002 to protect and promote human rights in Jordan, and that it is the first international institution to support the State of South Africa in its lawsuit against the occupation in the International Court of Justice, in addition to its ongoing support for freedom of expression and its supportive positions toward the people of Gaza. Yahya Abu Abboud, President of the Jordan Bar Association, said on his part that the goal of this seminar was to bring attention to the genocide taking place in Gaza. He also noted that the Bar Association has a deep relationship with the Palestinian cause and the Gazan people. Abu Abboud explained that the bar was established by royal decree and has two headquarters, the first in Jordan and the second in Palestine, noting that the bar's headquarter in Palestine has b een closed since 1967 in protest of the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
