Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi received a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to discuss the dangerous escalation in Gaza Strip and surroundings, and the necessary international action to stop it and protect the region from its consequences.

Safadi underlined the need to launch immediate efforts to stop the escalation and violence which threaten the security of the region as a whole, and the importance of ensuring the protection of civilians, self-restraint and respect for international humanitarian law.

He also stressed the need to find a real political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, and to stop all measures that undermine it and inflame tension.

The two ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultation on ways to stop the escalation and protect the region from new violence cycles.
