The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) is set to organize a forum in mid-December in Petra to address the obstacles facing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Jordan. The forum will also explore development opportunities in line with the pillars of the Kingdom's economic modernization vision. JEDCO CEO Abdul Fattah Kayed announced that the forum will focus on the role of national institutions in financing SMEs across various economic sectors and mitigating risks to ensure their sustainability. The private sector's contribution in streamlining financing procedures and developing innovative models to meet SME needs will also be discussed, given their critical role in promoting self-employment and boosting investment. Kayed emphasized JEDCO's commitment to making this forum an annual event, aiming to track key indicators supporting economic modernization, particularly in entrepreneurship, innovation, and business establishment across industrial, service, and agricultural sectors. The forum seeks to address unemployment and enhance the quality of life across Jordan's governorates. There are also plans to gradually expand the forum to attract regional and international participation, opening new avenues for SME export and investment. This year's venue in Wadi Musa and Petra, in collaboration with the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, was selected to highlight the region's role in comprehensive development and to promote conference tourism in the historic city.
