Tanegashima: The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched an H-3 rocket carrying the Michibiki-7 navigation satellite into space from the Tanegashima Space Center. The rocket's upper stage successfully placed the satellite into its target orbit approximately 29 minutes after liftoff.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Michibiki-7 satellite joins Japan's QZSS navigation satellite system, which operates at high altitudes in geostationary orbit. The QZSS system is compatible with the Global Positioning System (GPS) and can be used in conjunction with it to provide navigation services in parts of Asia and Oceania located on longitudes close to Japan.

The H-3 rocket, standing approximately 187 feet tall, made its maiden flight in March 2023 and has completed eight launches prior to today's operation. The QZSS constellation is planned to eventually consist of 11 satellites, while five satellites are currently operational in orbit.
