Israeli Excavation Intensifies Along Golan Heights

Quneitra:Israeli forces are intensifying excavation activities along the separation line with the Golan Heights, west of Al-Asha village in rural Quneitra, Syria, as part of the "Sufa 53" project.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Israeli plan involves constructing an 8-meter-wide military road fortified with earthen berms up to 5 meters high, complete with trenches and observation points. The route is situated alongside the occupied Syrian Golan within the buffer zone.

These operations are reported to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, indicating a deeper Israeli incursion into southern Syria, which includes attacks on Syrians, arrests, and land bulldozing activities.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has documented 65 Israeli incursions in July and 52 in the first 18 days of August. Additionally, 147 detentions have been reported since the beginning of the year, with 49 individuals still in custody, alongside home raids occurring in Quneitra and the Damascus countryside.

During the 70th session of the IAEA General Conference in September, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani stated that Israel's actions continue to violate Syrian sovereignty. He emphasized that regional stability depends on compelling Israel to adhere to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and to fully withdraw to the pre-existing lines before December 8, 2024.
