The Iraqi Republic Railways Company and its Iranian counterpart signed Sunday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the executive procedures for establishing a railway connection between the two countries.

Under the MoU which was signed in Basra province, it was agreed on the precise route for the railway line, locations of passenger stations, a specific timeline for the executive operations, feasibility studies, mine clearance and the construction of railway infrastructure.
