Baghdad, Report— Iraq witnessed during the year 2022 multiple events that had a great impact on all levels.

On February 3, the leader of ISIS, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi, was killed after an American raid carried out by the Joint Special Operations Command in northwestern Syria.

Last October, Muhammad al-Sudani was elected prime minister, becoming the seventh prime minister of Iraq since the fall of the former regime in 2003.

On the 27th of the same month, Parliament approved by a majority the new government headed by Muhammad al-Sudani, ending a political stalemate that exceeded a year. Parliament approved al-Sudani’s choices for members of his government, which includes 21 ministers, while the vote on two ministries was postponed until later.

In the same month, the Federation of Arab Journalists, during its fourteenth electoral conference in Cairo, re-elected the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moayad Al-Lami, as its president for a new term.

Al-Lami said in his speech that convening the conference carries a responsibility that rests with the Federation and its leadership, especially the implementation of fundamental reforms and updates in the context of developing the Arab press.

He pointed out that the next General Secretariat is scheduled to implement the implementation mechanisms.

Al-Lami added: If press freedom and expression are not available, our countries will continue to suffer.

On the 7th of this month, Saudi Arabia hosted 3 Chinese-Arab summits in the capital, Riyadh, during the period from 7 to 10 of it, in the presence of 30 leaders of countries and international organizations, headed by the Saudi monarch, his crown prince and the Chinese president.
