International Reactions Ignore Number of Victims, Devastation in Palestine, Says Palestinian Foreign Ministry

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that the killing of civilians under international cover amounts to a war crime, and the international green light for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to commit such atrocities under the pretext of “self-defense” makes the international community complicit in these crimes.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry expressed its surprise at the lack of response from the international community to Israel’s unrestrained attacks on the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, adding that the aggression has left 313 Palestinians dead and nearly 2000 wounded, including children and women, a substantial number of them from defenseless civilians. Strikingly no reaction came from the international community over these practices, it added.

The ministry underscored the urgent need to address the collective punitive measures imposed by the occupation against the Palestinian people. These measures include the cutting of electricity, water, and essential goods to starve the populat
ion, all of which are considered war crimes under international law.

The ministry also called attention to the ongoing violations and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank, including the complete closure of the territory and the setting-up of checkpoints that restrict the movement of Palestinians, effectively paralyzing their daily lives.
