Qatar Charity celebrated the graduation of a group of medical staff working at Naseem Al Rabeeh Center for passing an advanced course in learning the Arabic language as part of its “Lughati” program, which is concerned with teaching Arabic to non-native speakers residing in the State of Qatar.
At the ceremony held on this occasion, the participants in the program were handed graduation certificates, in addition to conducting tests to assess the level they reached after the training course they received in the Arabic language.
Cooperation in this program took place between the “Friends Cultural Center”, one of Qatar Charity’s centers for community development, with the Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Center, where 26 people from the medical center’s staff (non-Arabic speakers) participated, and their participation resulted in remarkable progress in the level of their Arabic language.
The Arabic Language Teaching Program “Lughati” is one of the programs launched by Qatar Charity targeting medical personnel in various medical institutions (non-Arabic speakers), whether doctors, nurses, others, or administrative staff to encourage them to use the Arabic language in their communication with patients. Some patients find it challenging to deal with English in hospitals.
Participants’ impressions:
Mr. Hashem Isha, one of the beneficiaries of this course and an administrative official at Naseem Al Rabie Center, thanked Qatar Charity for providing the center’s medical staff with the opportunity to learn the Arabic language.
He said that learning the Arabic language (the language of the local community) is critical, and we encourage medical personnel to learn this language to generalize the use of the Arabic language in various health centers to facilitate dealing with patients.
On her part, Mrs. Maimouna Bibi said that most of the center’s auditors speak Arabic, so we must learn this language. I learned to read and write, and now I have started learning to speak Arabic, and this is a good thing for me, as it will allow me to deal with patients easier and better.
Mrs. Sango Imsanu confirmed that she felt a great improvement in her Arabic language after the courses offered by Qatar Charity and said that she is now fluent in medical terminology in Arabic, which will delight clients on the one hand and make it easier for her to employ her Arabic language in serving patients and communicating with them.
Passion for learning
In a related manner, Mr. Sharaf Adwali, the Arabic language teacher in the Lughati program, expressed his thanks to all the participating students and said: “I was pleased with the extent of commitment that I found among the participants in the courses, and I found that they had a great passion for learning the Arabic language. Their great desire to learn Arabic seemed to facilitate dealing with clients It is true that they found it difficult at first, but over time I noticed a noticeable improvement in their learning of Arabic.”
