Inflation in France Reaches 4.9% YoY in September

The French National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies revealed that the inflation rate in France recorded 4.9 percent in September on an annual basis.

The institute explained in a press release today that the one-year slowdown in the prices of food, services, and manufactured products is offset by an increase in energy prices.

It added that inflation has witnessed an almost continuous increase since the end of 2020, reaching a peak of 6.3 percent on an annual basis in February 2023, significantly driven by food and energy prices, which jumped by 14.8 percent and 14.1 percent, respectively. Since April, Consumer prices have started declining slightly, particularly due to lower energy prices.
