Health Sector in Gaza Faces Danger of Crumbling, Arab League Warns

Cairo, – Arab League has warned that health sector in Gaza Strip faces the danger of collapse, as numerous hospitals and medical facilities were brough to standstill and went out of service, while the remaining hospitals are facing severe shortage of the critical medical and health essentials, including blood and its derivatives.

Assistant Secretary General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said Gaza Strip faces unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe due to the war crimes and genocide perpetrated by the occupation forces against the defenseless civilians that led to the martyrdom of and injury of thousands of them, adding that Gaza Strip faces an unjust Israeli siege for the nineteenth consecutive day.

The entry of relief and humanitarian aid was denied while water, electricity and fuel were cut off, she said.

This came in her remarks during the blood donation campaign organized by the staff of the General-Secretariat of Arab League on Wednesday to support Gaza Strip. She pointed out that Arab League is working to support Palestine and its resilient people on the land of Palestine.

Abu Ghazaleh said she is liaising constantly with the Palestinian Ministry of Health to understand its urgent needs to support the health sector in Gaza and promptly provide them.

On Tuesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the entire collapse of hospitals in Gaza Strip due to the persistent siege and Israeli aggression on the strip since Oct. 7.

12 hospitals and 32 health centers went out of service in the wake of the persistent siege of Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
