Berlin:German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the establishment of a Palestinian state is the most effective route toward creating a new regional order where Israelis, Palestinians, and neighboring countries can coexist peacefully and securely.

According to Qatar News Agency, Merz made these comments while commemorating the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attacks. He highlighted the German government's commitment to working towards this goal.

Merz reiterated the official position of the German government, which supports Palestinian statehood through a negotiation process aimed at achieving international recognition of the State of Palestine.
