General Supervisor of Qatars Pavilion at Amman International Book Fair to QNA: MoC was Keen to Participate in Exhibition

General Supervisor of the State of Qatars Pavilion, the Guest of Honor at the Amman International Book Fair 2023, Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture (MoC) Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Culture in Qatar to participate in the Amman International Book Fair for many years, explaining that participation this year was distinguished as Qatar was the guest of honor for the 22nd edition of the exhibition.

Al Buainain said in a press statement to Qatar News Agency that this participation consists of displaying Qatari intellectual production, the Ministry of Cultures publications, and all new publications, in addition to promoting the electronic library of all the ministrys publications, which is available to the public to browse books via the Internet, and download them via computer, smartphone and tablets.

He added that the participation also includes the presence of a number of Qatari publishing houses that display Qatari intellectual production a
t the exhibition, while highlighting the aesthetics of the State of Qatar by displaying pictures of the city of Doha as a form of promotion for the capital of Qatar, which has been the focus of attention in most of the events held there over the past years. In addition to a diverse cultural program of cultural seminars, poetry evenings, and intellectual and literary seminars, which shed light on the Qatari novel and the social dimensions of Qatari literature and heritage, the publishing industry in Qatar, and Qatari theatre.

The general supervisor of the Qatari pavilion at the exhibition praised the Jordanian audience, describing them as “the reading and interested public” who are familiar with Arab cultures. It was clearly demonstrated by their interest in asking about Qatari authors. This indicates the passion of the Jordanian public to follow Qatari literature and novels, which constitutes an incentive for the Ministry to participate permanently in the Amman Book Fair.

At the end of his statement to QNA,
Al Buainain pointed out to the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and Jordan in all fields, including the cultural field, expressing his thanks to all those organizing the Amman International Book Fair.

He stressed that Qatari publishing houses were keen to participate in the exhibition in its current session, such as Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, Qatar University Press, as well as Nabja, Al Watad and Rosa publishing houses, in addition to the pavilion of the Qatari Ministry of Culture.

It is noteworthy that the22nd edition of Amman International Book Fair will continue its activities until the 30th of September, with the participation of 400 local, Arab and international publishing houses, whether directly or through proxy from 22 countries. It is held under the slogan “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine”.
