In cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS) is organizing training program on ‘Standard Specifications’ for employees of the consumer sector in the Ministry during the period from October 1 to 5.
Within the framework of cooperation between the QS and the MOCI, the program aims at contributing to building and developing the human cadre capabilities and skills and raising their technical level.
A number of experts and specialists will give lecture during the program which seeks to familiarize trainees with the impact of standards on society and the environment as well as introduce international and Gulf standards, standardization to protect consumers and other most important guidelines, in addition to familiarizing participants with World Trade Organization notifications.
The program includes a field tour to the central laboratories at the QS’s headquarters to learn about the activities and services provided by the gold
and precious metals laboratories, the industrial calibration laboratory, the legal calibration laboratory, and the electricity laboratory. During the tour, participants will be informed of practical experiments and tests as well as introduced to the role that metrology plays in consumer protection and learning about the mechanisms for examining household electrical appliances through theoretical presentations.
