Doha: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, expressed his strongest condemnation and denunciation of Iran's continued conduct that undermines the security and stability of the region, its repeated brutal targeting of the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as well as its serious attacks on commercial vessels.
According to Qatar News Agency, the GCC secretary-general stated that Iran's conduct constitutes a grave violation of the principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2,817, and undermines the security and freedom of navigation. He emphasized that these repeated Iranian attacks obstruct efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region and reveal a systematic insistence on entrenching chaos, defying international law and the international will seeking to establish peace.
He affirmed that the GCC supports all measures taken by the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to enhance their security, safeguard their sovereignty, and protect their peoples and residents on their territories.
