GCC Condemns Tearing Up Copies of Holy Quran in The Hague

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) expressed its condemnation of tearing up copies of the Holy Quran by extremists in the Dutch city of The Hague in front of several embassies, stressing that this incident would inflame the feelings of Muslims around the world and provoke them.

In a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Al Budaiwi renewed his call on the international community to take urgent and effective international steps to confront these aggressive and provocative actions, as these practices have unfortunately been repeated recently under the pretext of freedom of expression, without any clear reaction to these practices and rejecting hatred and extremism.

He stressed the need for countries where these practices occur to intervene urgently and assume their legal and moral responsibilities to stop such internationally unacceptable actions.
