Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron has called for engaging the Europeans in any forthcoming summit on Ukraine, affirming that Russian President Vladimir Putin doesn't seek peace with Ukraine but wants it to capitulate. According to Qatar News Agency, Macron asserted that any belief in Putin's desire for peace is misguided, as the Russian leader's objective is the surrender of Ukraine. This statement followed a video meeting with the Coalition of the Willing, which supports Kyiv. Macron expressed his desire for a robust and enduring peace that respects international law and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations. He also emphasized the importance of a unified European stance in discussions concerning Ukraine's future. The French President also conveyed his belief that US President Donald Trump is pursuing peace between Russia and Ukraine. Macron plans to participate alongside several European leaders in the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting in Washington, aiming to present a united front. He se eks clarity on the extent of American contributions to security assurances for Ukraine in any potential peace agreement. Furthermore, Macron expressed skepticism about Trump's proposal to offer Ukraine protection similar to NATO's without granting membership. He argued that such a proposition is insufficient, as it fails to address the core issues at stake. Macron underscored the necessity of including Ukrainians in discussions about their territory, as well as involving Europeans in dialogues about their security. He stated his intention to travel to Washington not only to support the Ukrainian President but also to advocate for European interests.
