Former FM Marwan Muasher Highlights Jordan’s Pivotal Role in Efforts to Halt Gaza Conflict

Amman – Jordan is employing its international relations to mediate an end to the ongoing war on Gaza, said former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher.

According to a new release by Jordan News Agency, Muasher stated that King Abdullah immediately took action by visiting four European capitals and engaging in discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden since the onset of the Gaza crisis. He added that Jordan had played a significant role in the United Nations General Assembly resolution concerning the war on Gaza.

Muasher also referenced a recent interview with Queen Rania Al Abdullah, who he said articulated the sentiments of both Jordanians and Arabs at large, advocating for a united front to stop the aggression.

Arab nations have been less proactive than expected in responding to the crisis, which has elevated the importance of Jordan’s role, according to Muasher. He further explained that the UN General Assembly resolution is indicative of a majority stance against the Israeli actions in Gaza and the collective punishment of its residents.

Muasher concluded that as the conflict persists, a shift is likely to occur in Western attitudes towards the situation in Gaza, noting that some Western countries that have traditionally sided with Israel voted in favor of the UN resolution.
