Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, attended the official plenary session of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held in the presence of President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
The President of the Russian Federation opened the forum with a speech, in which he welcomed the participants in the forum after it was suspended the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that the global economy is recovering after going through a crisis as a result of the pandemic, and that the Russian market is returning to pre-crisis levels thanks to the economic measures. He stressed the importance of vaccines to combat this pandemic, noting the necessity of their equitable distribution to various populations in the world.
He pointed out the great role played by the Russian Federation in the production and distribution of the Sputnik vaccine, which is now administered in 66 countries, stressing that Russia did not only work on the production of these vaccines, but has started working with various international partners to localize these vaccines abroad.
