Doha: Newcastle United announced on Friday the signing of French midfielder Aladji Bamba from AS Monaco on a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Premier League club stated that the 20-year-old had completed his move and would wear the No. 8 shirt for Newcastle. Bamba had a productive 2025-26 season with Monaco, making 25 appearances in all competitions and contributing to the club's seventh-place finish in Ligue 1, which earned them a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

He made his senior debut for Monaco in August 2025, entering as a late substitute in a 3-1 Ligue 1 victory over Le Havre, and earned his first start the next month in a 2-1 away win against Auxerre. Bamba also participated in five UEFA Champions League matches, competing against top clubs such as Real Madrid and Juventus, before Monaco was eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain, which ultimately won the competition.

The French midfielder is Newcastle's fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window as the club continues to enhance its squad in preparation for the new season.
