FM stresses need to stop serious escalation in Gaza

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stressed the need to stop the serious escalation in Gaza and its surroundings.In calls with a number of his counterparts, as part of the ongoing Jordanian effort to launch immediate international action to stop the escalation, he called for protecting civilians and respecting international humanitarian law.Safadi said that escalation will only inflame the conflict and increase and expand violence.He called for restraint and launching practical steps to stop the violence, achieve calm, and open a real political horizon that would end the deterioration and restore confidence in the feasibility of the peace process and its ability to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability.Safadi underscored that intensifying efforts aimed at halting the escalation is an immediate priority around which all regional and international efforts must focus in light of the inevitability of the catastrophic repercussions of continued escalation and violence on the
entire region and its humanitarian, security, political and economic costs.He added that a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution is the only way to achieve security and stability.Safadi called Foreign Ministers of Italy, Antonio Tajani, UK, James Cleverly, Germany, Annalena Baerbock, Austria, Alexander Schallenberg, Netherlands, Hanke Bruins Slot, and Turkiye Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan.Safadi also received Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Tripodi, for a discussion on efforts to stop the escalation in Gaza.The meeting covered bilateral relations and ways to develop them in various fields, in addition to cooperation within the framework of the Aqaba Process.
