European Stocks Open Mixed Amid Rising Oil Prices and Interest Rates

Doha: European shares were mixed on Monday: European shares faced a mixed start to the week, affected by a new surge in oil prices and rising interest rates as investors looked ahead to the US Federal Reserve's meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, market activity was relatively subdued. This came after leading artificial intelligence executives called for a slower pace in AI development, which has put additional pressure on significant investments in data centers and the semiconductor industry. This call for caution in AI development has added an element of uncertainty in sectors heavily reliant on technology.

Among the major European markets, France's CAC 40 experienced a slight decline, falling by 0.22%. Similarly, Germany's DAX saw a marginal decrease of 0.10%. In contrast, the UK's FTSE 100 showed a positive trend, rising by 0.53%. Meanwhile, Italy's MIB index dropped by 0.48%, settling at 52,262.
