Es’hailSat Executive Announces £295 Million Satellite Project Set for 2030 Launch

Doha: Qatar's satellite operator Es'hailSat has announced an ambitious plan to launch its third satellite project, estimated to cost around £295 million ($347 million), by 2030. This announcement marks a significant step in the company's strategy to expand its satellite communications capabilities.

According to Qatar News Agency, Es'hailSat Chief Executive Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari revealed that the Es'hail-3 project will require between three and four years for its design, manufacturing, and launch phases. Unlike previous satellites that primarily catered to television broadcasting, Es'hail-3 will focus on enhancing communications services. These services will include fixed and mobile connectivity, aviation and maritime communications, as well as support for the oil, gas, and energy sectors.

Al Kuwari emphasized that the satellite would broaden Es'hailSat's reach across Asia, Africa, and Europe, thereby bolstering Qatar's standing in both regional and international satellite communications markets. The project is being executed in collaboration with Turksat, which will provide the necessary orbital rights and frequencies at 50 East, and Thales Alenia Space, tasked with designing and manufacturing the satellite.

Furthermore, Al Kuwari noted that the initiative would strengthen secure communications services and align with Qatar's broader aspirations to cultivate a knowledge-based economy and enhance national expertise within the space sector.
