Egypt on Monday condemned the dangerous Israeli escalation in Lebanon and the massive military operations that resulted in the killing and wounding of hundreds of Lebanese, including women and children. In a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, Egypt emphasized its full solidarity with Lebanon and its brotherly people, expressing its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Egypt also emphasized its complete rejection of any violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and territory. Egypt has previously warned of the dangers of continued Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the risk of the region descending into a full-scale regional war. As Egypt continues its efforts to stop the ceasefire in Gaza and contain the risks resulting from the war there, it calls on international powers and the United Nations Security Council to intervene immediately to stop the Israeli escalation in the region. It also underlines the need to settle the crisis peacefully , stop the escalation immediately, and start implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 in a non-selective manner, while allowing for diplomatic solutions, as military escalation will only exacerbate the crisis.
