EAA CONDEMNS THE SPIKE IN DEADLY ATTACKS ON EDUCATION

Deadly week for education, with more than a dozen students killed in Afghanistan and a school demolished in the State of Palestine while students were inside.

Education Above All (EAA) Foundation condemns the spike in deadly attacks on education during this past week, including in Afghanistan and the State of Palestine.

In Afghanistan, at least 15 students died and many others injured when an explosion took place at a school in the northern province of Samangan.

In the State of Palestine, Israeli soldiers demolished a recently built primary school in the Masafer Yatta region of the occupied West Bank while students were attending lessons inside their classrooms.

Access to education is a human right. UN Security Council Resolution 2601, which was unanimously adopted last year, calls on governments to put in place law and policies to protect education from attack even in times of conflict.

Education Above All calls on all parties to ensure schools remain safe spaces for students and teachers and to take action to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable under international law.
