Dollar Steady Near 18-Month High Amid Federal Reserve’s Hawkish Outlook

Hanoi:First paragraph of the news story.

According to Qatar News Agency, the dollar maintained its position near an 18-month high during subdued trading in Asia on Thursday. This stability followed the release of minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest meeting, which indicated a hawkish stance with policymakers identifying inflation as their primary concern.

The dollar index, a measure of the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, remained steady at 102.23, after experiencing a 0.3% gain on Wednesday. In contrast, the dollar slipped 0.2% against the yen, reaching 157.815 yen, following data that revealed Japan's current account surplus hit 4.062 trillion yen ($25.7 billion) in August.

The Australian and New Zealand dollars showed little change, standing at $0.6960 and $0.5600, respectively. Meanwhile, the euro remained steady at $1.1201 and the British pound was flat at $1.3215.
