CRA Invites Feedback on Final Phases of Market Definition and Dominance Review

Doha:The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has initiated a public consultation on the final two phases of its Market Definition and Dominance Designation (MDDD) review. This consultation is part of the ongoing 2024–2026 cycle of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Competition Framework review and update project. It offers stakeholders an opportunity to express their views and comments on the proposed regulatory approach.

According to Qatar News Agency, the consultation involves Phase 4, which focuses on evaluating market dominance and identifying Dominant Service Providers (DSPs) within relevant markets. Phase 5 addresses the proposed regulatory remedies. The CRA is seeking feedback and input from stakeholders on the assessment findings and proposed approach to support its final decision-making process.

The consultation is a continuation of previous phases in the comprehensive review process, aimed at developing the ICT regulatory framework. These efforts are intended to promote effective competition, enhance proportionate regulatory impact, clarity, and transparency, support investment and innovation, and improve outcomes for consumers and businesses. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030, the Third National Development Strategy 2024–2030, and Qatar National Vision 2030.
