Washington: Due to the conflict in Gaza, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro declared on Saturday that his nation would stop exporting coal to Israel.
This move comes as ties between the two formerly close military and commercial partners are deteriorating.
Coal shipments would only start up again “when the genocide” in Gaza ends, according to a post made by Petro on the social media site X.
Additionally, Petro made available a draft directive that states that coal exports will only start up again if Israel complies with the International Court of Justice’s recent ruling that Israel must remove its forces from the Gaza Strip.
