Beijing:China has called on the United States to adhere to the One-China principle and the three China-US joint communiques. The Chinese government urged Washington to manage the Taiwan issue carefully and take concrete measures to ensure the stability of bilateral relations and regional peace.
According to Qatar News Agency, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the matter during a regular press conference. This statement was made in response to comments from the US State Department, which described China's maritime activities near Taiwan's east coast as "deeply destabilizing."
Mao Ning emphasized that China has consistently communicated its stance, asserting that its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf extend into the waters east of Taiwan, and that its activities there are within its sovereign rights and jurisdiction. She added that China is not the party causing instability in these waters.
Reiterating Beijing's position, Mao stated that Taiwan is a domestic issue for China and should not be subject to external interference. She called on the US to handle the situation prudently and take tangible actions to protect both bilateral relations and regional stability.
