Beijing: Chinese authorities activated a Level-IV emergency flood response for four provincial regions, as heavy rainfall brought about by Typhoon Dolphin and a cold air mass is expected in central and northern parts of the country.

According to Qatar News Agency, China's Ministry of Water Resources announced that the provinces of Hubei, Henan, Hebei, and Shandong will experience downpours from August 10-16 due to the 13th typhoon of 2026, with heavy rainstorms anticipated in certain areas. The ministry has directed local authorities to enhance monitoring and research efforts and increase patrols to identify and address potential hazards.

Priority measures will focus on flood defense along small and medium-sized rivers and preventing mountain torrents. The ministry emphasized the importance of timely evacuation for residents in high-risk areas to safeguard lives and property.

Additionally, a Level-III emergency response continues in eastern Zhejiang province, alongside a Level-IV response for six other provincial-level regions across eastern, central, and northeastern China. The ministry's information center renewed a blue alert for floods on Monday, advising the public in affected areas to take necessary precautions.

China operates a four-tier emergency response system, with Level-I being the most severe. The country also utilizes a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red as the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
