Bola Tinubu Wins Nigeria’s Presidential Elections

Abuja, March 01 (QNA) – Ruling party candidate Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of Nigeria’s presidential elections in the early hours of Wednesday.

The 70-year-old veteran politician and former governor of Lagos state got 36% of the vote, or nearly 8.8 million, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He also received over 25% of the vote in more than two-thirds of Nigerias 36 states and Abuja, thus meeting both requirements to win Nigerias presidency.

His main rival Atiku Abubakar polled 29%, and Labour’s Peter Obi 25%.

Tinubu won most states in his home region of the south-west, where he is known as a “political godfather”.

The inauguration is scheduled to be held in May. (QNA)
