Bahrain to take part in the Islamic Solidarity Games 2022

Manama, Bahrain is set to take part in the 5th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held August 9-18 in Konya, Turkey.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chair and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa directed to participate in the tournament, under the aegis of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation.

Bahrain will compete in the upcoming Islamic Games 2022 in six sports – Athletics, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, shooting and cycling.

HH Shaikh Khalid stressed the importance of taking in different overseas tournaments, achieving good results and vying for medals.

He said that Bahrain athletes are gearing up for the new challenge, following their recent participation in the Gulf Games, in order to reap the achievements and honour the nation in the Islamic Solidarity Games.

“We are all confident in the ability of our heroes and heroines to shine in the games and honour the Kingdom of Bahrain among other Islamic countries”, he said.

Bahrain sports teams bagged 12 gold medals, 5 silver and four bronze, the fourth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games which was held in 2017 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
