Assistant Foreign Minister Meets Finnish Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade

HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met Thursday with HE Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Finland, Ville Skinnari, on the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the fields of education, food security, technology and energy. Also, the meeting addressed Qatar’s role in mediation in regional and international conflicts.

HE Assistant Foreign Minister expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the Republic of Finland for supporting humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan and reaffirmed Qatar’s readiness to cooperate with Finland in various fields.

Her Excellency said that the opening of the embassy of Finland in Doha would strengthen bilateral relations and strengthen economic, political and cultural partnerships between the two friendly countries, expressing Qatar’s aspiration to open an embassy in Finland in the near future.

For his part, the Finnish Minister thanked the State of Qatar for its continued cooperation with his country, particularly the cooperation between Qatar Airways and Finnish Airways (Finnair), and looked forward to developing the curriculum of the Finnish school in Doha and developing cooperation in various fields.
